Sorry that this blog has been so scarce as of late. (forehead smack) Basically all I do now is go to school, work, and plan/shop any time I'm free, aside from spending time with the man.

Anywho, it's been a wild and fantastic five months, and knowing that I'm going to be hanging out with this lovely man for the rest of FOREVER is a very happy thought.

Life is sooo crazy right now. I know people say that all the time, but LIFE REALLY IS CRAZY. If none of you hear from me in a week, I've decomposed either in the darkroom or sitting in front of my computer trying to write a beastly research paper.

I've never considered myself a runner. Sure, I did the occasional run in elementary (creamed 'em), and even did cross country in junior high but that's as far as my running history goes. This summer, however, I decided to pick it up again. Then I decided about a month ago that I was going to train for and run the Salt Lake City Marathon next year. I downloaded this training schedule, and so far it's been pretty sweet. It's been really interesting to figure out how my body works when I run. I've learned that 3 miles is where my lungs really start to hate life. I've had asthma for about 10 years now...and to say the least it's been very frustrating. But I'm determined not to let it kick my butt. As of right now it's difficult to gauge just how well I'll be able to run the whole 26.2 miles, so I'm going to train for the full marathon the next 3-4 months, and then decide if I'll do the full or half. Next week I'll be doing the City Creek Cold Turkey 6k, woohoo!

As if I needed another reason to love Anthropologie.

They've created a website that brings together some really inspirational people and highlights their work and creative processes. I am loving David Eustace's documentation of his three-week road trip with his sixteen year old daughter. The photographs and sweet letters are so real.

We'd just opened, not 15 minutes earlier, when the day got off to a great start. My coworker and I were up front doing pretty much nothing (surfing the internet). No one was in the lobby, so the silence was palpable. Out of nowhere, our supervisor walks in back and asks another coworker, "SO, how was the rave on friday?!" We started laughing, probably out of delirium (it was just after 9 am, people. Alertness was not a reality). Coworker turns to me and says "That is so 1995."

It's been a while, friends...

Life has a funny way of turning inside out

and consequently making each day feel so surreal.

But all is well.

Different, but well.

I wanted to share a bit of loveliness with you today. Isn't that picture gorgeous?

Hello Friends.

Well, some big changes are headed my way. I'm working on a new blog and hope to get it up and running soon. I'm going to start a new photography project this month, if I can get it planned thoroughly enough. I'm really excited about it...I'll keep you updated. The concept behind it certainly isn't new, but it will be a very meaningful and revealing project. And quite possibly the biggest (and long-awaited) change is that Alex will be coming home tomorrow. Excitement. Nervousness. My brain might explode. Wish me luck.

AT WORK TODAY:

Old man with an obnoxiously huge cowboy hat walks in. We call him Happy Eternity, because every time you tell him to have a good day, he always says "You have a happy eternity." Anyway, I had to stand up to grab something while he was still at my window. As I'm walking back he goes "Well! Aren't you a tall drink of water!"

...I laugh and say thanks. Meanwhile the woman standing in line behind him starts laughing. I'm glad I'm not the only who finds this awesome (aka awkward).

I tell him to sign something.

Happy Eternity: "Anything for you! Do you know that song?"

Me: "Nope."

Happy Eternity: (FULL. ON. SINGING.) "Anything for youuu, I'd do anything for youuu..."

(All the while, I'm trying my hardest not to laugh, but it's not working. And that lady is still laughing. I don't even know if that's a real song, but he's got pretty good vibrato, so I'll let it slide.)

Me: "That's...a nice song. Thanks."

He goes on to say some other nice things, I tell him to have a good day and of course --

"You have a happy eternity."

...I'm working on it buddy.

I started a list of things I've needed to do this semester, but never got around to doing. One of them was spring clean my iPod. You know, ruthless deleting and making cool playlists. A trite thing perhaps, but it's honestly been bugging me forever.

I just got back from Earth Fest at the Gallivan plaza where Carolina Liar, Safetysuit, and Michael Franti & Spearhead all performed for FREE. It was so great. I've been dying to see Michael Franti since I missed him last year. He did not disappoint, one of the best live shows I think I'll ever see.

Mum and I went to the Beehive Tea Room for the first time yesterday, and we thought it was lovely. It's a small little place, and you'd hardly notice it if it weren't for the huge yellow beehives emblazoned across the windows. First thing you do is order at the counter before choosing a place to sit. If you order tea, they deliver it to you in a small red teapot. (I may have geeked out at it's mini-ness) And nothing tops off a good cuppa like a petit four (worth the $2.75 it cost) and quite possibly the best sugar cookie SLC has to offer. Don't worry...if you need more sustenance, they have a slew of yummy sandwiches and salads to choose from.

The setting: 1940's chic heavy with asian flair.

Has anyone else noticed that this blog is about food 75% of the time? Dangit.

DON'T STARE AT ME LIKE THAT.

You know it wasn't my fault.

Last night, as I was making my way home after class, a deer decided to SCARE THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS OUTTA ME. The poor thing comes bolting at my car while I'm pushing 40 (yes, that was the speed limit), and I swear I've never been so scared in my life. I swerved like a maniac. By some miracle, I veered towards the side of the road that just happened to have no cars parked there. The deer was safe, and I imagine that by the time it reached some nummy grass and began chewing, I was still having a minor panic attack.

That nummy grass would've done me good...

Well, I ordered this DVD off the internet last week. Why, you ask? Basically I'm too broke to hire an actual trainer, so Tracy Anderson here is going to be my bestest friend every night of the week. Heck, she's trained Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow. She's gotta be good. Last night was the induction ceremony to SERIOUS PAIN. After quick introductions (me: looking and feeling like an idiot in my tv room. her: freshly tanned and trim in an all-black ensemble), we got right to work. At first, my confidence was at its highest...then I realized we were only doing the warmup. A strange feeling of impending doom swept over me. A few stretches later, I was already on my way to the "you'll feel that one in the morning" stage. We moved quickly through each of the sections -- she's a dancer, so naturally I struggled to keep up. I imagine I looked somewhat like a spider on crack, attacking the air with my arms and legs. Unlike an actual human, I can put DVD Tracy on pause so I can huff and puff and drink water as long as I want. This occurred several times. BUT mark my words. The day I don't have to pause, I will blog about it. And there will be much rejoicing. Anyway, I made it all the way through, and yes...I most certainly did feel it this morning. Still am.

Tracy Anderson, you are one tough broad.
